2023: A Year of Letting Go and Growing
As I reflect on the year gone by, both personally and professionally, I realize it was a journey filled with profound learnings and subtle transformations. At Coto, and in my own life, I've learned the power of letting go, the art of detachment, and the beauty of embracing life's natural course.
For long, I believed in tightly controlling outcomes, orchestrating every detail to align with my vision. This year, however, I embraced a different approach. I learned to loosen my grip, to let the universe unveil its plans, and to be open to the myriad possibilities that emerge when we're not married to a specific outcome.
Detachment, I've realized, isn't about indifference or lack of passion. It's about committing passionately to the process without being fixated on the end result. This approach has not only been enlightening but also liberating. It has allowed me to see opportunities in rejections, and to recognize the signposts leading to better paths in moments of acceptance.
At Coto, we encountered our fair share of rejections. Each one, though initially disheartening, turned out to be a valuable lesson, showing us new directions and better strategies. Acceptances, on the other hand, affirmed our path and propelled us forward, reinforcing the belief in our mission.
Parallelly, in my personal life, I've been transitioning from a desire to control outcomes to focusing on my passion and commitment in a more detached manner. This shift has not only affected how I approach challenges but has also influenced how I interact with others and perceive their reactions.
Throughout this journey, one lesson stands out: our thoughts shape our future. While it might sound contradictory, it's a duality that exists in harmony. Our thoughts lead us towards destinations, perhaps not always the ones we envisioned, but invariably the ones meant for us.
In this journey, the unwavering support and love of my family have been my bedrock. I'm deeply thankful to my parents for their endless wisdom and guidance. My wife, a constant source of strength and understanding, has been instrumental in every step. My children, with their innocence and joy, remind me daily of the beauty in life. I extend heartfelt thanks to my co-founders, Aparna, Rajneel, and my best friend / co founder Avi, for their companionship and invaluable contributions. Gratitude also goes to Zeebee our CTO, Scott who’s always reliable and our venture partners, Amit and Rishab, for their trust and guidance, and to my mentor, Brian, for his sage advice. The team at Coto deserves a special mention for their dedication and creativity, which have been vital in our success.
2023 has been a year of unlearning control and learning to flow. At Coto, and in my life, I've seen the beauty of detachment, the power of positive thinking, and the magic of letting life unfold. It's a journey I'm excited to continue, with open arms and an open heart, carrying the gratitude for all those who have been part of this incredible journey.
